The Maryknoll Grade School Library is an information-based resource center
for all students and teachers. The center is staffed by a qualified
full-time librarian and a full-time library assistant. Students in grades
PK-5 are scheduled for library instructional periods once every six-day
cycle. Teachers in grades 6-8 may schedule individual and/or student
groups to use the library media center's tools and facilities during open
periods.
The purpose of regularly scheduled library media center classes is to
develop an appreciation of various genres of literature and to acquire
information and research retrieval skills using print and nonprint
resources.
Students in kindergarten
through Grade 8 may borrow books for a two week period. Books
may be renewed but overdue books accumulate fines at a rate
of ten cents per book per day.
The library media center is equipped with fourteen internet accessible
personal computers for student research. The online web catalog is
accessible from any classroom and also from the student's home.
